Interestingly enough, six of the 10 conference teams have a new number next to their name, with only 40% of the league retaining their old ranking. That could indicate one of two things: either a) there were some major shakeups and upsets over the past week or b) King doesn’t really know what he’s doing. I’m going with the latter.
No matter, however, it’s a small victory for West Coast basketball fans. Many of you told me you personally contacted King expressing your displeasure with his inability to analyze the sport, and King responded by doing his job better…for this week, at least. So good work, fans. Keep making your voices heard!
*P.S.: Last week’s rankings have been pulled from the Jason King archive….hmm.
Holy crapola, Ron Kittle is on Facebook! If you collected baseball cards as a kid like I did, you may very well know that Ron Kittle is a former Major League Baseball player who, in his heyday, was regarded as a power hitter with an inability to hit for average. Baseball Reference compares Kittle favorably with the Steve Balbonis of our world, which is no compliment.
Anyways, long story short, Ron Kittle is our friend on Facebook, and he’s not the only semi-famous person we’ve made an acquaintance with recently. We’ve also hooked it up with Mariner broadcaster Dave Sims (a true American hero); ESPN college basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb; current Major Leaguers Jack Cust, Corey Patterson, Chad Billingsley, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and others; Seattle’s own Felix Hernandez; quarterback Matt Leinart; journalists Peter Gammons and Jeff Pearlman; and even Sportscenter anchor and former KIRO TV sportscaster Linda Cohn. You can find us on Facebook HERE.
Not that Yahoo Sports is considered a valuable resource for college basketball analysis or anything, but come on. Come on, Jason King, you’re supposed to be an expert. Instead, you look like a fool, with your back-asswards Pac-10 basketball rankings and an expectation that we’re supposed to trust you for insight.
I implore you to stop. Just stop. You’re not as smart as you give yourself credit for, and there’s no need to keep perpetuating flat-out wrongitude.
Who is Jason King, you ask? Jason King is a Yahoo Sports college basketball “insider” (inside what, we may never know) that spends his time analyzing all of NCAA basketball.
First of all, asking someone to analyze all of NCAA basketball is like asking someone to sponge bath all of Bartolo Colon, or read all the works of Shakespeare. It’s a humongous task that no one should be assigned on a sole basis. But in these tough economic times, not only has Yahoo Sports entrusted one man to handle this job, they’ve entrusted Jason King, who happens to be an idiot.
Additionally, King hails from Kansas and attended Texas’ Baylor University, so his knowledge of West Coast basketball is right up there with my knowledge of nuclear physics.
