Seattle Sportsnet is a site for fans, by fans. We provide honest feedback on the Seattle sports scene, often with a humorous twist, and do our best to reflect the true feelings of local fanatics. Our focus is on longform prose which we feel you may not find anywhere else. We strive to be unique in our analysis and hope you’ll find us to be the same. Thanks for reading!

Who we are

Seattle Sportsnet was founded on November 12, 2008 by editor and lead writer Alex Akita. A lifelong Seattle sports fan, Alex is a University of Washington alum and previously labored in sports journalism at The Seattle Times. Working in the software industry by day, Alex moonlights as a social media whore (you can follow him on Twitter, @alexSSN) and sometimes-writer.

Filling out the balance of the workload on the site are a handful of guest writers ranging from the anonymous (Writer X), to the professional, to the up-and-coming. Check in every day to uncover our latest scribes.

  • Voted 2011’s “Best Sports Blog in Western Washington” in KING 5 TV’s Best of Western Washington competition.
  • Editor/Lead Writer Alex Akita awarded 2012’s “Best Sports Twitter Follow” by Seattle Weekly.
