Dawg Pack Dirt: University of San Francisco

Dawg Pack Dirt: San Francisco

Volume 6, Issue 10, December 27, 2009

Special to Seattle Sportsnet

Great job against Texas A&M Dawg Pack! There hasn’t been a non-conference game in a few years where there was that much energy, especially during winter break. Despite the horrible injury to Texas A&M’s Derrick Roland, we came back and brought the energy to help the Dawgs get a quality win against a good opponent.

The Game:

-San Francisco Dons at Washington Huskies

-Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. PST

-Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion

The Team:

San Francisco is a member of the West Coast Conference, home to Gonzaga, St. Mary’s, and Portland, among others.

-The Dons are currently 4-9 and sit seventh in the WCC.

-San Francisco has played two mutual opponents of the Huskies. The Dons lost to Arizona State 104-65, and beat San Jose State 76-71.

The Players:

-#1 G Kwame Vaughn (So.) was ranked No. 3 among West Coast Conference players in free throw percentage (.833) during league play last season, so make sure and get in his head when he’s at the line.

-#5 G Michael Williams (Fr.) and #22 F Perris Blackwell (Fr.) star in this dorm-made music video rendition of We Like Girls.

-#10 G Chioke Walker (So.) recently won “Viewers Choice” at a Mr. Prince Charming Pageant.

-#11 G Dontae Bryant (Sr.) is from Portland and knows Isaiah Thomas and Venoy Overton from tournaments and teams way back in the day. If you want to text or call to wish him good luck or have any other words for Dontae, his number is [edited for relevance]. As always, keep it classy.

-#12 C Tomas Bruha (Fr.) is a 7-footer from Prague, Czech Republic and was a member of the Czech Republic U-20 National Team.

-#13 G Rashad Green (So.) has a brother, Danny Jr., who was a member of the 2008-2009 NCAA Championship North Carolina team as a senior guard last year and his second cousin is Gerald Green of the Dallas Mavericks. (*Editor’s Note: Danny’s better. So is Gerald.)

-#21 C Moustapha Diarra (Jr.) and #31 F Nikola Stojiljkovic (Fr.) are both from France, so brush up on your French or translate a few phrases and let these two have it in their native language.
