University of Washington linebacker Mason Foster has won the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week award for his performance in the team’s 36-33 victory over Arizona on Saturday.
Foster, a junior, turned in the game’s biggest play late in the fourth quarter when he returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown. An errant pass from U of A quarterback Nick Foles hit the feet of receiver Delashaun Dean, bounced into the air, and landed in the hands of Foster who ran untouched to the corner of the east end zone. The score gave the Huskies a one-point lead over the visiting Wildcats and sealed the victory for the home team.
In addition to his game-winning score, Foster added 11 tackles (nine solo) and one tackle for loss.
