Crazy OKC Radio Host Kicked In Face, Mocked By Japan (Video)

In all seriousness, that headline is not a joke.

Below is a video sent to us by loyal reader Chris Jeter who uncovered the secret life of Jim Traber, aka the crazy Oklahoma City radio host who bitched out Nick Collison for liking Seattle last week (that post, along with the podcast, can be found here).

Traber, a former Baltimore Oriole first baseman, spent some time barnstorming in the Japanese leagues after his major league career came to an abrupt end. Apparently, he gets along with the Japanese about as well as he does with Collison.

As you’ll see in the video, Traber reacts violently to getting hit by a pitch during an at-bat. He charges the mound, sending a bench-clearing melee into the outfield.

After being restrained, Traber comes back for more and ends up falling down and getting kicked in the face. It’s pretty much the most amazing thing ever.

Anyone who has seen the movie Mr. Baseball might recall that brawls are seriously frowned-upon in Japan. As you can see in the video, even Traber’s own teammates attempt to stop him from attacking the hapless pitcher, only to be victimized by his massive girth.

Without further ado, the clip itself. Enjoy.

  1. Awesome. That makes me feel good. The guy honestly tried to say only 5,000 people came to Sonics games…what an idiot.

  2. This dude is a clown. Makes sweeping assumptions based on Twitter posts, talks over people when they refute any of his points, flat out lies about things to argue his case ie Sonics attendance numbers. OKC deserves him.

  3. Now he’s going after The Sports Guy Bill Simmons for this great quote on his twitter page referring to him: “Note to unpopular, low-IQ sports radio bully/hosts in non-Top40 markets: I’d never come on your show to bring you attention. Ever. Not ever.”

  4. Seriously, if you were at all lukewarm about Bill Simmons before this, you gotta love the guy now.

Traber should feel like an idiot for calling out one of the most popular sports writers in the nation. Hopefully he knows now that he’s not even in the same league as most of the sports media people out there.
