National LOI Signing Day brings 15 to UW

The big day for football recruits is finally here. National Letter of Intent Signing Day, and so far the UW has received 15 letters of commitment from the incoming class of 2009. Here’s a breakdown of the players who have turned in their LOI’s, with rankings provided by (1-5 stars):

  • Nathan Fellner, S, Fr. (HS). 6’1″, 200, 3-star
  • Desmond Trufant, CB, Fr. (HS). 6’0″, 170, 3-star
  • James Johnson, WR, Fr. (HS). 6’0″, 183, 3-star
  • David Batts, S, Jr. (JC). 6’1″, 200, 3-star

There are three commits who have yet to turn in LOI’s. They are: Kimo Makaula, 3-star, Fr., DE; Semisi Tokolahi, 2-star, Fr., DT; and Dominique Gaisie, 2-star, Jr., CB.

On a side note, the Washington class is rated last in the Pac-10 by most experts, and includes only two in-state products: Trufant, of Tacoma’s Wilson HS, and Pulu, of Federal Way HS.

  1. Ends up being 18 after all three of the remaining commits sent in their letters this afternoon. Nice work by the coaching staff to salvage this class.
