What follows is a letter I have sent to the station manager at Sports Radio KJR, Rich Moore. Feel free to email Rich at programming@kjram.com if you have an opinion you’d like to share. You can also contact Rich on Twitter, @950PD.
“Take a look at me now, ’cause there’s just an empty space. And you coming back to me is against all odds, and that’s what I’ve got to face.” -Phil Collins.
Hello Rich,
You’ll notice I’ve quoted Phil Collins above. A man only does that when he’s desperate, Rich. I wish I could just make you turn around. Turn around and see me cry. There’s so much I need to say to you. So many reasons why.
Rich, I’m writing to you today with a plea. I’m writing on my own accord, unbeknownst to my cohorts, asking you to let us bring back the internet’s greatest podcast, Karate Emergency. I’ve searched the entire web. There are no better podcasts. Ours won. It’s science.

The inaugural season of Karate Emergency comes to a close in Episode XXXII as we wrap our sports talk for the summer and look towards fall.
The crew makes some bold predictions for the coming months, weighs in on Seattle’s Hoops 206 charity basketball game, touches on the Mariners, and leaves you with an enormous, Ryan Divish-related cliffhanger for Season 2.

After a two-week hiatus, KE is back with a vengeance.
On this week’s episode, Ashley gets molested on a golf course by none other than Shooter McGavin, Josh gets grumpy over garlic fries, we discuss the changing social landscape of local sports media, and the Sean Burroughs fling is reminisced.

In honor of episode XXX, we recorded this entire show naked. So enjoy that.

As the seven or eight of you who listen regularly probably know by now, Karate Emergency can be a little grab-ass at times. That’s a given. This isn’t 60 Minutes or anything like that. The title alone should give it away.
That said, every now and then we put away the alcohol and have a legitimate, heated discussion. That’s what the majority of this episode has become, and which we hope you’ll enjoy.
Aside from the usual grumpiness, the news, and the smattering of crudity, we debate the recent rash of scandals that have rocked the NCAA, and from there branch out into a greater discussion of cheating in sports as a whole. I did a really crappy job just now of explaining how good this conversation becomes, so you’re better off just ignoring my blurb and listening.

Yes, we know the sun is out and we’re now fighting an uphill battle for your attention. Getting anyone to sit down and listen to a show during the summertime can be a tough sell. The television industry learned this long ago when they cut much of their original programming during the year’s warmer months and opted to broadcast reruns instead.
But you know what, here at Karate Emergency, we’re not big on reruns. We want to give you something fresh each week. We also want to give you options, which is why we now allow you to download the podcast directly you to your computer. This way, you can listen at your leisure, either on your PC, through your iPod, or on a mobile device. You can also find Karate Emergency hosted each week at two other locations: on the 950 KJR podcast page, and via the iTunes Store by searching “Karate Emergency”.
This week, we discuss the red hot Mariners, reveal details of Josh’s celebration of bachelorhood, and in general, do our best to keep you entertained. Check it out.

Ryan Divish makes his triumphant return to the program, as Karate Emergency rolls to its twenty-seventh episode. Extra grumpiness added for your listening pleasure, along with the usual focused sports debate…

After a two-week suspension, Karate Emergency returns with a special guest, Mason from Movin 92.5. Big thanks to Mason for sacrificing her reputation on our behalf.
The gong show discusses Twitter feuds, the NBA playoffs, and the Seattle government (i.e. bike lanes vs. arenas). Additionally, we bring back one of our favorite bits, KE Search Terms. It’s on like Shere Khan. (Jungle Book shout out.)

The usual highbrow discussion ensues, with choice words on the Mariners, why steroids need to make their triumphant return to sports, bathroom faux pas, and more.
Also note the new layout for our downloads on the 950KJR.com website, and remember that you can always download episodes for free via the iTunes Store by searching “Karate Emergency”.

Our grumpiest episode yet! And surprisingly, we managed to do it without Divish in the room. Simply amazing.
The first half of today’s show is a testament to unabashed anger, as we carry Grumpy Out The Gate thirty-two minutes deep. After the ranting is complete (Facebook, hot girls at the gym, and pickup hoops all covered in GOTG), we talk Brandon Roy (his blank is so big that you could use the cartilage from his blank to repair his knees), NFL Draft (never trust a ginger athlete), a little hockey, and close out the show with the week’s news.

Call us quitters, if you must. We almost made it all the way through Lent without Ryan Divish. Alas, mere days before Easter, we caved.
The appendix-less Dickens makes his triumphant return to the big show as we discuss Mariners, NBA relocation, Ashley’s willingness (or lack thereof) to hook up with the hometown nine, the usual grumpiness (including the aforementioned appendix story, the tale of “that guy,” and other related anger), and, as always, the week’s news.
And don’t forget, you can always download all our episodes for FREE via iTunes by searching “Karate Emergency”.

This might very well be the greatest Karate Emergency in the history of Karate Emergencies.
I really need to start saying that every week.
Anyway, on this episode of KE we discuss Donkey From Shrek, athlete etiquette in interviews, the Mariners, the Mariners’ fake Twitter account phenomenon, and, of course, a comprehensive breakdown of KJR’s (Bigger) Dance.
And just a reminder, you can download every episode of Karate Emergency (for free) via the iTunes Store, simply by searching “Karate Emergency”. Check it out!

This week’s topics include the decision by Isaiah Thomas to go pro, the Mariners’ first week of the season, our grandpa’s basement, Howard Schultz’s book signing, the usual grumpiness, news, a very unusual Karate Emergency (which includes an update on Divish’s health), and the state flag of Oklahoma. Which may or may not be a big picture of a tiny penis.

Ten episodes from now and people might get the wrong idea about us.
Divish-free Lent marches on, as our favorite Mariners beat writer lays hospitalized following an appendectomy. Best wishes to Divish as he recovers minus the least-important organ one can possess. We hope to have the appendix in studio next week.
Topics for the big show include the Mariners upcoming season, a group of people that want to Fire Nintendo, and the return of everyone’s favorite game, You Can Only Have One.

*Editor’s note: Isaiah Thomas’s departure is forecast. CALLED IT! BOOM!
After a one-week hiatus, we continue our Divish-free Lent with Ashley, Josh, and yours truly discussing all things basketball. We recap the Huskies’ 2010-2011 season in our own unique fashion, preview next year, talk NCAA Tournament, weigh in on Washington State’s trio of pot-users, and even tease the coming City of Mountlake Terrace rec league basketball championship of which two-thirds of the room will be playing in.
Bookending the show is our usual grumpiness and the week’s news. Plus, Ashley continues her streak of like 15 straight episodes with at least a little talk about boobs. Enjoy.
