Dawg Pack Dirt: Arizona State

Volume 6, Issue 18, February 6, 2010

Special to Seattle Sportsnet

The Dawgs are back in the hunt for the Pac-10 title with that big win on Thursday. A win this Saturday over the Sun Devils would be absolutely huge.

ASU has become somewhat of a rival after last year, and they think UW is a school of thugs so feel free to play on that. Come looking like the biggest thug you can because we all know that’s what Derek Glasser likes.

When UW played in Tempe earlier in the season, the FSN commentators called us out saying the UW students better bring it when ASU goes to Seattle so do your thing Dawg Pack! Let’s make Hec Ed crazy this Saturday!

Freddy Garcia Esta Drunko…Says “Fuhduhcuz” (Video)

Translation: F*** the Cubs.

In Freddy’s defense, he appears to be at that state of inebriation where it makes sense to repeat everything that anyone says to you. So it’s really not his fault.

This video was apparently shot at Sox Fest 2010, which one can only gander is a glorious drunken bash that takes place at The Cheesecake Factory.

Note the big guy on the stairs in the old school White Sox jacket. He has a look of genuine concern on his face. Like this performance might very well devalue his collection of Freddy Garcia bobblehead dolls.

Well…This Is A Situation

A few weeks ago we compared the Huskies’ Isaiah Thomas to Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from MTV’s Jersey Shore.

Citing The Situation’s need for attention in a charming-yet-cocky sort of way, we alluded to Thomas’s me-first attitude on the court that, while at times selfish, was exactly what this otherwise-scoring-deficient ballclub needed.

Fast forward a few games and everything has changed.

Instead of being the aggressive volume scorer he was just weeks ago, Thomas has turned into a ballhog and a buzzkill. He’s gone from being the focal point of this team’s offense to the black hole. Instead of creating opportunities, Thomas has heisted them from his teammates, putting up goose eggs in the process.

Yesterday, Thomas’s stretch of mediocrity came to a head with a thirty-percent shooting performance that resulted in a total of seven points.

While Thomas’s final line was bad (7 pts, 6 rebs, 1 ast, 4 TO, 3 PF, 3-10 FG, 1-4 FT, 0-4 3-pt), a stretch of two minutes to close out the first half was even worse.

The Rant Post

February 5, 2010 2 comments

Quiet everyone! An old man is talking.

Rather than bring the hammer down with a handful of articles venting about any number of sports-related topics, I’ve decided to combine all my little gripes into one giant rant post.

Here are the things currently bugging the hell out of me:

Tom Watson’s comments on Tiger Woods

I don’t really like Tiger Woods. He’s fun to watch golf on the back nine of a nail-biting tournament, I suppose, but I’ve never found myself rooting for the guy, per se.

Which is why you would think I’d appreciate Tom Watson’s recent comments on the embattled golf superstar. Take a look at what Watson had to say:

“I’ll let the cat out of the bag. Tiger has to take ownership of what he has done. He must get his personal life in order. I think that’s what he’s trying to do. And when he comes back, he has to show some humility to the public.

I would come out and I would do an interview with somebody and say, ‘You know what? I screwed up. And I admit it. I am going to try to change. I am trying to change. I want my wife and family back.’
