Photo of the Year Award: Jerren Shipp and the Tranny
Back in February, our Dawg Pack Dirt correspondents, Nate Taggart and Aaron Bean, unearthed this gem featuring Arizona State basketball player Jerren Shipp in the same frame as a bong and a transvestite.
The photo was originally published on a website called TheDirty.com, a Phoenix-based gossip website in the mold of TMZ. Met with a tepid response there, the photo turned into an overnight sensation when it was discovered by Nate and Aaron and subsequently reprinted on these pages and on the pages of Pac-10 websites and message boards.
I mean, let’s be honest. Whether you’re an ASU fan, an ASU opponent, or simply an innocent bystander, there isn’t much you can say about this picture that hasn’t already been captured in ridiculous fashion by the photographer. A picture is worth a thousand words, but this one might be worth about a million.
Oh man, I had kind of forgot about that pic. There so much to say about this picture but I always have a hard time just knowing where to start.
