SI Picks UW Over USC, Feature On Front Page

sarksmokeSI.com is picking the Huskies to beat USC tomorrow, and they’re so confident it will happen that they’re featuring the story on the front page of their site. Gotta like that show of support if your a Dawg fan.

And in case you’re looking to make some money off the Huskies this weekend, Vegas oddsmakers are spotting the Dawgs 20 points in their attempts to thwart the Trojans. The way these guys played against LSU, combined with the fact that the UW coaching staff is entirely familiar with Pete Carroll’s gameplan should be enough to keep Washington in the game until the very end, win or lose. I would pick the Huskies to cover the spread in this one, and I bet most handicappers would tell you the same.

Go Dawgs!

Rangers Mariners BaseballI was reading through the USA Today sports page this morning when I came across a brief note that just about brought tears to my eyes.

The Washington Nationals had acquired catcher Jamie Burke from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations.

Preposterous, I thought. How could we do that to Jamie Burke? Send him to the Nationals, where players go to die?

But in fact we had. It was true, and it was horrible.

Jamie Burke did everything for the Mariners during his brief tenure with the organization.
