How many points does Will Conroy need to score to get into the NBA?

willconroyWill Conroy scored 53 points in an NBDL game the other night.

I’ll let you process that for the next two paragraphs.

Take your time.

Fifty-three points are hard to digest.

Okay, that’s enough time.

Let me start by saying I feel like Chris Farley’s character in Tommy Boy. Like the only way to get NBA owners to notice what Conroy is doing is to strap road flares to my chest and create a hostage situation in offices around the league, complete with a news crew and everything.

There has to be a spot on an NBA roster for the hardest working man in the game. What more does he need to do?

Since our last Will Conroy update back in December, the former UW point guard has upped his scoring average nearly two full points, from an impressive 24.6 PPG, to an otherworldly 26.5 PPG.

At the same time, Dub-C has actually managed to become more unselfish (imagine that). He’s now averaging 7.9 assists per game, up from 7.5 around Christmastime.

This is getting downright ridiculous. If you were to transfer Conroy’s D-League numbers over to the NBA (and I realize the numbers don’t necessarily translate in that way, but this is strictly hypothetical), he would be fourth in the league in scoring, and tied for eighth in assists. Such lofty numbers should at least buy him a spot on the end of someone’s bench.

If Barry Bonds and his agent can argue collusion against Major League Baseball, then I petition for a class-action lawsuit of Will Conroy fans against the NBA. What have we got to lose? Not our team, or anything.

I guess I’m just frustrated for Will, who I’m sure has to be slightly frustrated himself. We’ve seen first-hand how hard this guy works at his game, and to have this caliber of play go unnoticed and unrewarded seems flat-out unjust.

I challenge NBA owners to find a reason not to employ Will Conroy. But even if they can come up with one, I guarantee you we’ll still be pining for Dub-C to get an opportunity. Come on. Just give the guy a break, already.

UNREAL he is not in the NBA! I can think of at least 10 guards ( in the NBA ), who. no way, could put up the kind of points he is putting up in the in the D league!! and i dont even follow the NBA that closely!
