The fan’s view of the Dawgs victory
If you want the real analysis read Bob Condotta. He’s good. We’re here to give you everything the media didn’t tell you, because you can only handle so many numbers, so much expert insight, and so many mentions of James Harden before you get bored. Let’s do this.
-In case you were wondering, yes, pictures of Derek Glasser, that dude’s butt, Jerren Shipp, the 32-ounce Taco Bell cup, the twisty bong, and the transsexual were distributed before the game in 8.5″-x-11″ form. Of course, if you would like to step up and donate to the Dawg Pack, next time we could see images like that in gigantic, blown-up form. Please contact us with your pledges, and we’ll hook you up with the leading Dawg Pack members.

For the last time...In the words of Lloyd Christmas, "Goodbye my love."
-The Moritz family was on hand to sell rubber bracelets in support of former Husky Andrew Moritz and his ongoing battle with cancer. If you were unable to meet up with them and purchase one of these bracelets, not to worry, the family will be at this Saturday’s game against Arizona, Tuesday’s game against Seattle, and next Saturday’s game against Washington State. Your donations will go to help offset the cost of Andrew’s medical treatment (his insurance covers 75% of the cost, your donation will help cover the final 25%), as well as the costs associated with his travel between Seattle and Houston (where he’s receiving treatment). For more details on Andrew’s fight, Click Here, or check out this article we wrote back in January chronicling Andrew’s journey.
-Now for the obligatory assessment of the FSN broadcasters. Keep in mind, last night’s game was being shown nationally, so if you heard some comments you wouldn’t normally hear on a local broadcast, that’s to be expected. However, I was surprised to hear Tom Glasgow on the play-by-play. Glasgow is an ex-backup nightly news sportscaster and has no business in the broadcast booth for a game as big as this, being viewed by a nationwide audience no less. Before working for FSN, he hosted the Mariners pre- and post-game shows for KOMO radio, which lends itself to calling basketball games how? Nothing against Glasgow as a person, but where was Kevin Calabro for this one?
Francis Williams continues to develop nicely as a commentator, however. After standing behind Williams from the get-go, he keeps on making great strides on the mic, providing top-notch inside information and transitioning smoothly from one topic to the next. He makes the game easy to listen to.
-Skyline QB and Husky recruit Jake Heaps was at the game last night. Word has it that he was kicked out of the Dawg Pack when an usher spotted him without a bracelet in the second half. Fire that usher. The coalition begins here.

Attention ushers! This is Jake Heaps, note the appearance.
-Some individual shoutouts to Husky players for their efforts last night. Jon Brockman, for posting his standard 21-point, 11-rebound game; Quincy Pondexter, for continuing his hot streak with a double-double, 10 points, 12 boards; Justin Dentmon, for stepping up in the clutch on an otherwise off-night; Darnell Gant and Justin Holiday, for handling James Harden all game long; Venoy Overton, for making Derek Glasser rethink his commitment to basketball with his pesky defense; I.T., for managing 11 points on a night when the shot just wasn’t falling; and Matthew Bryan-Amaning, for rebounding from his recent cold streak with a 3-5 shooting performance that can hopefully get him back on the right track. Good work, team.

You look lost, Angie. Can we help?
-If you happened to catch the FSN postgame show last night, you might be a little confused as to the whereabouts of the Husky basketball team after the win over ASU. Angie Mentink kept referring to the Dawgs as “Pac-10 Champions” after the game, which is not true (yet). While Mentink may be a little overzealous in her assessment of this team’s accomplishments, there is still a week of conference play in front of us, and the Dawgs could still mathematically be overtaken for first place in the Pac-10. Despite Mentink’s error, her studio buddies (Tom Kuyper and Tom Newell) were reluctant to follow suit. They just sat there with half-smiles on their faces, looking like they were questioning what Angie was smoking all night.
-Finally, good work by the home crowd last night. An excellent showing all-around. I even saw fans in the lower bowl standing for good chunks of time during the game, which is amazing. The Dawg Pack paved the way with a ton of energy, which they’ll need to bring twice more for the games against Arizona and Washington State, and that infectious attitude spread throughout Hec Ed. Impressive showing, fans.

Glasgow actually did basketball games awhile back, so he does have experience in that department. I thought he did a nice job, it’s not an easy thing to do.
