Notes: Griffey a one-man economic stimulus, Huskies at USC
Junior: The announcement of Junior’s return to Seattle on Wednesday evening contributed to the sale of 16,000 tickets (in season ticket, or 16-game-plan form) on Thursday, according to a source that monitors that sort of things. The Mariners had been averaging around 1000 tickets sold per day prior to that.
Also, USS Mariner is reporting that the sale of Griffey-related items on Craigslist.com went up nearly 500% yesterday, after remaining stagnantly low prior to that.
Just a reminder, Griffey’s first press conference since returning to Seattle will take place at 12:30 PM today, live from Peoria. It can be seen locally on Northwest Cable News, online at SeattleMariners.com, or heard on 950 KJR AM.
Husky Basketball: The Dawgs tip at 4:00 PM today live from the Galen Center on the campus of USC. Coming off a loss to UCLA across town on Thursday, Washington looks to rebound with a win over the Trojans, who they beat earlier this season in Seattle. The Trojans will employ the services of leading scorer Dwight Lewis this time around, however; Lewis was held out of action when Washington and USC met back in January.
The game will be shown live on FSN, or can be heard on 950 KJR AM.
